Derek garman Brewer

A graduate of Appalachian State University,  Derek first found his love of craft beers in college. After graduation, he was a part time employee and a full time home brewer.  His professional brewery work started at the Olde Mecklenburg Brewery in Charlotte, NC. There he scrubbed and filled kegs, growlers and bottles, while sneaking over to learn more about the large scale brewing system and cellaring practices in the brew house.  After OMB, he moved to Huske Harware House in Fayetteville, NC to be the Assistant Brewer.  There, he was in charge of brewing, cellaring and day to day operations.

Now, relocated to Cary, he spends his time between the brewery and a local home brew shop. His tasks at the brewery are to take pilot recipes and work them in to a full production scale, kegging, casking, cellaring and quality control. He is looking forward to bringing his knowledge to Fortnight and producing world class beers for everyone to enjoy.
